Requirements and Other Information

Beginning freshmen who have completed admission requirements (application for admission, ACT or SAT scores, and a high school transcript) are invited to attend Hoggie Days. In addition, you must THEA/ACCUPLACER or have proof of TSI exemption prior to attending Hoggie Days (please make sure you know your TSI status and have fufilled TSI requirements or you will not be able to participate in Hoggie Days). Students should check with their high school counselors shortly after graduation to ensure that the final transcript has been sent to the Admissions Office at TAMUK MSC 105, Kingsville, Texas 78363.

Texas Success Initiative (TSI)

ACCUPLACER is a test that satisfies the TSI requirement, which is mandated by the Texas Legislature. The Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) is a basic skills test that also meets the TSI requirement. Students planning to enroll in public community colleges and universities in Texas must satisfy the TSI requirement or show proof of TSI exemption before starting college. It is important that students take the ACCUPLACER or THEA as soon as possible if they are not exempt. If you need information on the ACCUPLACER test, THEA test or test exemptions, please see University College's website, or call (361) 593-5800.
