Congratulations and welcome to Texas A&M University-Kingsville!! GO HOGS!!!

Now that you’ve been admitted to the University, it’s time to meet with your assigned Academic Advisor. TAMUK and University College have created Transfer Thursdays exactly for this reason.

Transfer students with 30 or more semester credit hours who have been admitted to Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) for the Summer or Fall 2008 semester need to meet with an Academic Advisor prior to registering for classes. The purpose of meeting with an Academic Advisor is so you can receive proper advisement on which courses to take in the upcoming semester. Also, we need to determine which courses you’ve previously taken transfer into your degree plan at TAMUK.

Summer/Fall 2008 Transfer Students have the opportunity to sign up for one of the following Transfer Sessions…

Thursday, April 10…2-5pm
Thursday, April 24…2-5pm
Thursday, May 1…2-5pm
Thursday, May 8…2-5pm
Thursday, June 12…2-5pm
Thursday, June 26…2-5pm
Thursday, July 10…2-5pm
Thursday, July 17…2-5pm
Thursday, August 7…2-5pm
Thursday, August 14…2-5pm

Summer Session I begins on Wednesday, May 28th and Fall Session begins on Thursday, August 21st.

Transfer Sessions for recently admitted transfer students w/30+ hours are informative, professional, but held in a relaxed, casual, and welcoming atmosphere. Feel free to bring your parents, siblings, or friends with you so they can find out about the next big, exciting step in your college career.

Students will initially meet as a group to receive general but pertinent information about TAMUK. Student’s will then meet individually with an Academic Advisor and receive a personalized degree plan, register for classes, and learn how their transfer credits are being used towards their degree at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Your Academic Advisor is assigned to you based on which major you’ve chosen to study. You need to bring a copy (official or unofficial) of all your college transcripts (including the current term) and test scores (if applicable) when you attend your session. There is no fee to attend the Transfer Session but I ask you to please call me in advance to sign up. Spots are limited, so call soon.

To sign up, contact Mike Ashburn, Coordinator of Academic Advising, at 361-593-2994.
