Insurance requirements for international students

International students enrolled at any university in the Texas A&M System are required to have an approved health insurance plan to ensure that medical treatment will be available in the event they are injured or become ill while enrolled. Failure to provide medical coverage will require the International Student Services office to notify the Vice President for Student Affairs of non-compliance with the mandatory health insurance requirements.  Disciplinary procedures may include enforced withdrawal.

Privacy Act for International Students

Family Educational Rights to Privacy Act of 1974 will not apply to international students and scholars under the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (Section 641). Schools will be required to collect and report the following: a) identity and provide current address of individuals; b) academic information; c) school disciplinary action; and d) the date that the F, J or M visa was issued or extended or date on which the F, J, or M participant was approved for a change to this classification.
