RESIDENCE LIFE

Lewis Hall, Room 101, 593-3419

http://housing.tamuk.edu/

On campus housing facilities are administered through the Residence Life Office.  Students living on campus will choose from a variety of traditional and suite-style residence halls.  Many of the halls are single sex facilities and some are designed as upper-class, co-educational living environments. All residence halls are smoke-free. Married students or single parents with dependents may apply to live in the Student Family Apartments.  For application information and rates, please contact the office.

The university has a required residence policy, which requires all students that are single, under 20 years of age or have less than 30 credit hours to live in the residence halls.  Exemptions may be considered if the student is living with a parent or legal guardian within a 40-mile radius of the campus.  Questions about the university’s required residence policy should be referred to the Residence Life Office.

Room Reservations and Damage Deposit

In order to be assigned a residence hall, a student must submit a housing application accompanied with a $150 room reservation and damage deposit and complete a Residence Life Housing Agreement.  The room reservation and damage deposit is automatically forfeited if the student fails to cancel the housing reservation before the deadline for which the deposit is being placed; does not check in by the last day of regular registration for the semester/session for which the reservation was made; moves from the hall before the end of the semester; or does not officially check out of the residence hall at the end of the semester.

Specialized Housing Options

Students living on campus at Texas A&M University-Kingsville find that the residence halls are more than just a place to live.  We are committed to providing you with the opportunities that will allow you to learn about yourself and others, interact with diverse student populations, and develop a sense of community.  Living in a specialized community provides you with the necessary tools and resources to help you succeed.  Specialized communities give A&M-Kingsville students a chance to live around students with similar interests and make lifelong friends.  To apply for a specialized community please indicate your community of interest on the housing application or preference form.

Living Learning Communities

Students living in this unique environment will have roommates and peers assigned to this community that are classmates.  All students in this community are assigned to take two courses together.  Students participating with this community will have the opportunity to conduct research, attend special presentations and have informal interaction with faculty and staff beyond the classroom.
