STUDENT
TRAFFIC APPEALS BOARD
Function
and Purpose:
The purpose of this board is to insure the right of appeal to any student
charged with a violation of the university’s parking and traffic
regulations. Appeals must be filed through the Dean of Students Office,
located in the MSUB, room 306. The board hears appeals of students
concerning traffic and parking citations, makes a ruling and notifies the
University Police Department on the disposition of the case. Meeting dates
will be scheduled by the board on a weekly basis and posted at the Dean of
Students Office.
Duties
and Responsibilities of the Board:
A.
Has original appeal jurisdiction over all parking and traffic
citations issued to students by the University Police Department.
B.
Listens to student’s appeal and votes either to sustain or
overrule the citation.
C.
Asks any questions of student making the appeal in regards to the
citation
D.
Sets guidelines for the disposition of cases.
E.
Makes the final decision and determination about a parking
citation. Their decision is
final and not subject to appeal.
F.
While the board makes every effort to communicate its findings with
the person making an appeal, it is the responsibility of the student
making the appeal to follow-up on the disposition of their appeal and to
ensure that all fees, if any are paid in a timely manner.
