University College began operations in the 1989 fall semester as the seventh college and the first new college to be created since 1947 at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The college is committed to improving student achievement and retention through quality instruction and services to students. University College represents a renewed commitment to attracting, retaining and graduating well-prepared students at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

 

University College is student-centered, student-focused and organized to improve academic achievement and performance of first-year students.  Its mission is to provide high quality programs and academic services to help students become successful at the university.  University College provides programs needed for improving academic performance and for success by assisting students in meeting their potential through counseling, course placement, tutoring, mentoring and teaching. 

 

University College Academic Advising

University College Academic Advising provides advisement for students who have not completed TSI requirements. ACT/SAT results, TSI results and course placement exams are used to help with course planning decisions. In addition, liberal arts students who have not declared a major are assigned an advisor in University College . University College also provides intensive advising for at-risk students and provides the foundation for the total university-wide advisement success.
